Richard Brady, P.E., BCEE founded, successfully built, and sold a civil engineering and construction firm where he remains a member of the Board of Directors. Rick is a licensed civil engineer internationally recognized for his engineering contributions to large municipal water projects that serve safe drinking water to millions worldwide. His major clients include the United States Department of Environmental Protection (USEPA), The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which is the largest water supplier in the United States, delivering 3 billion gallons per day of drinking water to nearly 20 million people, the City of San Diego, and the U.S. Navy. In his 41-year career, he has managed some of the largest water supply projects constructed in the United States, most notably the 200 million gallons per day Alvarado Water Treatment Plant for the City of San Diego. He has managed more than 50 reservoir design projects in his career, including the 35-million-gallon Earl Thomas Reservoir, at one time the largest prestressed concrete reservoir in the world, and in 2012 he provided his expert engineering assistance for Qatar’s Mega Reservoirs Project. He has provided his civil engineering expertise to numerous international clients, most notably the Sydney Water Board, Australia and the governments of India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Brady graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1980 and was awarded the Alumni of the Year for the Engineering School in 2024. He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Owner/President Management Program. He is a Board-Certified Environmental Engineer and is a member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. He has authored numerous technical papers and has made engineering presentations in Vancouver, CA; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Dubai, UAE; and New Delhi, India. He is an expert in large drinking water treatment plant projects and is a chapter author in the American Water Works Association/American Society of Civil Engineers Water Treatment Plant Design textbook, 5th edition, Chapter 16, Activated Carbon Absorption.
